Continental Motorradreifen
Deutsche Technik seit 1871
1871 ist das Gründerjahr der Continental-Caoutchouc- und Gutta-Percha Compagnie in Hannover. Der Firmenname aus der Gründerzeit ist seitdem Programm, denn die Pflanzensäfte Kautschuk und Guttapercha bilden bis heute eine wichtige Basis der Reifenproduktion. Continental bringt 1891 den ersten Fahrrad-Luftreifen auf den Markt, drei Jahre später startet mit dem Urtyp des Serien-Benzinmotorrads von Hildebrand & Wolfmüller auch die Produktion von Motorradreifen.
Gefertigt werden Reifen für Sportler, Sport Tourer, Tourer, Enduros, Cruiser, Leichtmotorräder und Roller. In der Erstausrüstung beliefert Continental unter anderem BMW, Husqvarna und KTM.
Bis heute zählt Continental zu den führenden Herstellern von Motorradreifen. Forschung, Entwicklung, Test und Produktion der Radialreifen erfolgen im hessischen Korbach und in Hannover in Niedersachsen.
