Scissor jacks - compact, reliable and easy to use
A flat Tyres usually comes unexpectedly - it's good to be prepared. A scissor jack is therefore part of the basic equipment for All those who want to stay mobile. Whether changing tyres in the garage at home or on the road: with a high-quality scissor jack, you can lift your vehicle safely and reliably.
How does a scissor jack work
The scissor jack owes its name to its scissor-like design, in which two metal arms are pushed apart or together by a central spindle. By turning the spindle - usually with a hand crank or socket spanner - the support surface slowly lifts upwards, bringing the vehicle to the desired Height.
How to use the scissor jack correctly:
- Securing the vehicle: Apply the handbrake and engage first gear or reverse gear on a manual gearbox. For automatic vehicles, select the park position (P).
- Loosen the wheel nuts: Slightly loosen the wheel nuts of the Tyres to be changed before lifting the vehicle
- Position the Jack: Position the scissor jack at a designated mounting point on the vehicle - usually near the wheel arch. These points are specified in your vehicle's operating instructions.
- Lift the vehicle: Slowly turn the crank clockwise until the vehicle wheel floats freely in the air for a few centimetres.
- Changing the wheel: You can now remove the wheel and replace it with a spare wheel.
- Lowering the vehicle: Carefully turn the crank anti-clockwise until the vehicle is safely back on the ground.
- Tighten the wheel nuts: Now tighten the wheel nuts to the correct torque.
What you should pay attention to
Always ensure that the Jack is used on a firm, level surface. Never exceed the specified load capacity of the device. A scissor jack is intended for short-term lifting operations - it does not replace a workshop jack or a lifting platform.
