Stay in control even in extreme winter conditions: tay in control even in extreme winter conditions with the MICHELIN X-ICE SNOW+ studless winter tyres. The advanced MICHELIN Flex-Ice 3.0 tread compound supports optimised braking on ice, snow, slush, and on wet and dry roads (1).

Reliable performance in winter conditions: The MICHELIN X-ICE SNOW+ gets you reliably through the winter. Its V-shaped tread pattern with wider lateral grooves provides strong lateral grip and an efficient claw effect. This gives you stability and control in deep snow and on icy roads.

Built to last through many Winters: MICHELIN MaxTouch technology distributes forces evenly during acceleration, braking and steering. This helps to ensure a long service life. The tyres offer up to 40% more mileage than the previous generation (3) – without compromising on control on winter roads.

Legal notices:

(1) Braking on ice, snow, wet and dry surfaces. Based on external braking tests carried out between February and March 2025 by an independent body, TÜV SÜD Product Service, on behalf of Michelin. The tests were carried out on an Audi Q5 fitted with 235/55R19 105H tyres, using the new MICHELIN X-ICE SNOW + as the baseline (100%) compared with the MICHELIN X-Ice Snow SUV** (98.7%; 96.2%; 86.3% new and 87.9% worn; 92.9%): On ice, measurement of deceleration from 25 km/h to 5 km/h. On snow with ABS, from 30 km/h to 10 km/h. On wet roads (new tyres) from 80 km/h to 20 km/h. On wet roads (worn tyres) from 60 to 20 km/h. On dry roads from 100 km/h to a standstill (0 km/h). *‘Worn’ means: worn down by machine to the tread depth of the statutory wear indicator in accordance with European Regulation ECE R30r03f.**MICHELIN X-Ice Snow SUV is the previous generation of the MICHELIN X-Ice Snow+.

((2) Acceleration on snow and handling on ice – tests carried out by TÜV SÜD Product Service on behalf of Michelin. Tested in March 2025 in size 235/55 R19 105H on an Audi Q5. Comparison on ice (lateral handling, lap time): MICHELIN X-Ice Snow+ (100%) versus MICHELIN X-Ice Snow SUV (96.9%). Snow acceleration test (5 to 30 km/h): MICHELIN X-Ice Snow+ (100%) compared with MICHELIN X-Ice Snow SUV (98.2%).

(3) Mileage – External tests carried out by the DEKRA TEST CENTER on behalf of Michelin in April 2025. Tested in size 235/55 R19 105H on an Audi Q5. Comparison: MICHELIN X-Ice Snow+ (156 per cent) versus MICHELIN X-Ice Snow SUV (100 per cent). The mileage test was carried out under average real-world conditions (D50) with a mileage of 7,712 km. The projection is based on an estimated remaining tread depth of 3 mm in the centre groove and 1.45 mm on the shoulder of the Front axle. Additionally, the annual mileage per vehicle of 12,000 km in Europe for the whole of 2024, as per the S&G Global database, was taken into account. One winter season corresponds to six months. Results may vary depending on usage, road surface and weather conditions.

(4) Rolling resistance – tests carried out in March 2025 by TÜV SÜD Product Service on behalf of Michelin. Measurements taken on a drum test rig in the size 235/55 R19 105H. Comparison: MICHELIN X-Ice Snow+ (6.2 kg/t) versus MICHELIN X-Ice Snow SUV (6.5 kg/t). Results may vary depending on usage, road surface and weather conditions.

EU Tyre Label

The Tyre Labelling Regulation determines the information that must be provided with regard to tyres' fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise. Information is also provided on the product's performance in wintery driving conditions.

Regulation EU 1222/2009, which has been in force since 01/11/2012, has been revised and will be replaced from 1 May 2021 by Regulation EU 2020/740, from which point new standards will apply. The assessment categories for fuel efficiency, wet grip and external noise have been changed and the layout of the EU label has been changed accordingly. The manufacturers' product data sheets, stored in the EU database, can be downloaded via a QR code integrated into the label. It also includes information on snow grip and ice grip for tyres that meet these criteria.

The following tyres are exempt from the regulation:

  • Tyres designed to be fitted only to vehicles registered for the first time before 1 October 1990
  • Remoulded tyres (until Regulation EU 2020/740 has been widened accordingly)
  • Professional off-road tyres
  • Racing tyres
  • Tyres with additional devices to improve traction, e.g. studded tyres
  • Temporary-use spare tyres (T-type tyres)
  • Tyres with a speed rating below 80 km/h
  • Tyres with a nominal rim diameter of 254 mm or less and 635 mm or more

Overview of criteria and valuation classes

Fuel efficiency

Fuel consumption is dependent upon the rolling resistance of the tyres, the vehicle itself, driving conditions and driving style. The measured rolling resistance (rolling resistance coefficient) of the tyre is categorised in classes A (most efficient) to E (least efficient).

Fitting a vehicle with class A tyres all round can lead to a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 7.5%* in comparison to the same vehicle with class E tyres all round. Commercial vehicles may have even greater reductions.

Please note:
Fuel consumption depends to a great extent on the individual driving style and can be reduced considerably by driving in an environmentally friendly manner. To improve fuel efficiency, tyre pressures must be checked regularly.

Wet grip

Wet grip is categorised in classes A (shortest braking distance - E (longest braking distance).

A car fitted with class A tyres can have a braking distance which is 18 m shorter than that of a car fitted with class E tyres when performing an emergency stop at 80 km/h (in average road grip conditions). *

Please note:
Road safety is highly dependent upon individual driving style. Stopping distances must always be observed. To improve road grip in wet conditions, tyre pressure must be checked regularly.

External rolling noise

The noise emission of a tyre has an effect upon the total noise of the vehicle and influences not only driving comfort, but also environmental noise pollution. The EU tyre label categorises extrnal rolling noise in the classes from A (quietest rolling noise level) to C (loudest rolling noise level). This is measured in decibels (dB) and compared to the European noise emission limit values for external tyre rolling noise.

The pictogram with the classification "A" shows that the external rolling noise of the tyre falls below the 2016 EU limit value by more than 3 dB.
B
Classification "B" means that the external rolling noise of the tyre falls below the 2016 EU limit value by up to 3 dB.
C
Classification "C" means that the specified limit value has been exceeded.

Grip in icy conditions, winter-suitability

For winter tyres for cars (class C1), which are intended for use on icy roads in northern Europe, a specific "minimum grip" on ice is confirmed. This is achieved through the use of special rubber compounds (so-called soft compounds). Such tyres are generally not suitable for use outside of northern Europe.

Please note:
Tyres with ice grip are intended for use on icy road surfaces or a solid layer of snow and should only be used in difficult weather conditions (e.g. low temperatures). Use of ice tyres in less dificult weather conditions (e.g. wet conditions or warmer temperatures) can lead to suboptimal performance, in particular with regard to wet grip, handling and wear.

Grip in snow, winter-suitability

Tyres labelled with the 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake, or "3PMSF" symbol, must display a specified braking or traction characteristic on a solid bed of snow in comparison to a standardised reference comparison tyre (a so-called "SRTT" - standard reference test tyre).

Please note:
For all winter and all-year tyres manufactured from 1/1/2018, the Alpine symbol is mandatory. Tyres labelled as such are tested for their snow characteristics in a standardised and globally recognised test procedure and must fulfil specified minimum requirements. These tyres provide particularly good performance with regard to safety and driving control in winter conditions - snow, icy roads and low temperatures.
