Nokian Tyres Snowproof 3P – Born for winter. Designed for speed and control.

The Nokian Tyres Snowproof 3P has been specially developed for the harsh winters of Central Europe and offers uncompromising safety without compromising on driving pleasure. It is characterised by precise control at high speeds, excellent grip on all surfaces and strong performance in snow and wet conditions. The new tread design, advanced rubber compound and reinforced structure guarantee durability, quiet driving comfort and confident control in critical situations.

- Genuine winter expertise. Unrivalled winter experience from the inventor of the winter tyre
- Outstanding winter grip on all surfaces. Combines driving pleasure with predictable safety
- Excellent performance on snow and wet roads, as well as resistance to aquaplaning. Predictable stability in rapidly changing winter conditions
- Precise and balanced handling at high speeds. Stable and predictable steering behaviour on cold, dry, wet and snow-covered roads – even at motorway speeds.
- Increased durability thanks to reinforced aramid sidewalls. Protection against potholes, kerbs and rough winter roads.

Grip from dry to snow:
Optimal control for all winter conditions:
Alpine Performance 3.0 is Nokian Tyres’ advanced winter tyre concept for safe driving in snow, wet and dry conditions. It combines a three-zone tread pattern for optimised grip and stability, an Alpine Grip rubber compound for reliable performance across varying temperatures, and a reinforced Power Lock core for precise handling and durability – delivering balanced safety and control in winter and everyday driving.

Master all winter roads:
The three-zone tread pattern, featuring the Arctic Zone for strong grip in a wide range of winter conditions, the Aqua Zone for aquaplaning protection and the Performance Zone for outstanding stability and steering precision, effortlessly handles unpredictable winter conditions thanks to reliable handling, outstanding grip on snow and excellent wet grip.

Enjoy the speed:
The Power Lock Core is the reinforced inner structure of the Snowproof 3P and has been developed for high-speed stability, precise handling and a long service life. It features a new tread pattern, performance bead rings, an optimised shape and greater rim protection. Together, these elements ensure that the tyre offers optimum grip even under pressure – whether in fast corners, when braking or when driving over kerbs.

Built-in resilience:
Reinforced aramid sidewalls for increased robustness and durability. The extremely strong fibres in the tyre sidewall offer greater durability and protection in demanding driving situations. The fibres make the tyre more resistant to impacts and cuts that could otherwise easily damage it. Available in selected sizes.

Less noise, more comfort:
Enjoy a quieter and more comfortable ride with Nokian Tyres’ SilentDrive™ technology. SilentDrive™ absorbs road noise before it reaches the cabin, ensuring more relaxed and less tiring journeys. Available in a limited selection of Nokian Tyres Snowproof 3P tyre sizes.

Driving Safety Indicator:
The DSI (Driving Safety Indicator) is an innovative tread wear indicator integrated directly into the tyre. It displays the remaining tread depth with easy-to-read numbers, helping drivers identify tyre wear at a glance. This means you know exactly when it’s time for a tyre change – for greater safety and driving performance.

First-class performance from the inventor of the winter tyre:
The Nokian Tyres Snowproof 3P offers high driving performance on snow-covered and wet roads. Its Alpine Performance Concept 3.0 enhances grip through a three-zone tread pattern. The Arctic Zone combines two different 3D sipes with interlocking. These improve stability and enable agile steering on wet, dry and snow-covered roads, as well as optimised braking and traction performance. The Aqua Zone with Blade Grooves reduces aquaplaning and improves braking performance in wet conditions. The Performance Zone optimises directional stability on straights and in bends and ensures more precise steering through direct feedback.

High speed, precision and balanced handling:
The Nokian Tyres Snowproof 3P combines outstanding winter performance with precise handling at high speeds. Its Alpine Grip rubber compound offers exceptional performance in winter conditions and also performs well in wet and dry conditions, as well as in warmer temperatures. It also helps to reduce rolling resistance, thereby maximising efficiency whilst minimising emissions. The tyre’s Power Lock Core is equipped with performance bead rings that improve stability and handling during sudden manoeuvres. This makes the Nokian Tyres Snowproof 3P the ideal choice for drivers who value first-class handling at high speeds.

Tested for grip in winter and at high speeds:
The Nokian Tyres Snowproof 3P underwent the rigorous testing programme that Nokian Tyres applies to all its products. The tyre was tested under both controlled and real-world conditions to ensure the highest levels of safety and performance. The winter tests took place at the renowned Nokian Tyres Test Centre in Ivalo, Finnish Lapland, and ensured that the tyre meets the strictest standards on snow and ice. High-speed and wet-weather tests were carried out at the Nokian Tyres test facility in Hakka Ring, Spain, and on the company’s test track in Nokia, Finland.

Manufacturer information

EU Tyre Label

The Tyre Labelling Regulation determines the information that must be provided with regard to tyres' fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise. Information is also provided on the product's performance in wintery driving conditions.

Regulation EU 1222/2009, which has been in force since 01/11/2012, has been revised and will be replaced from 1 May 2021 by Regulation EU 2020/740, from which point new standards will apply. The assessment categories for fuel efficiency, wet grip and external noise have been changed and the layout of the EU label has been changed accordingly. The manufacturers' product data sheets, stored in the EU database, can be downloaded via a QR code integrated into the label. It also includes information on snow grip and ice grip for tyres that meet these criteria.

The following tyres are exempt from the regulation:

  • Tyres designed to be fitted only to vehicles registered for the first time before 1 October 1990
  • Remoulded tyres (until Regulation EU 2020/740 has been widened accordingly)
  • Professional off-road tyres
  • Racing tyres
  • Tyres with additional devices to improve traction, e.g. studded tyres
  • Temporary-use spare tyres (T-type tyres)
  • Tyres with a speed rating below 80 km/h
  • Tyres with a nominal rim diameter of 254 mm or less and 635 mm or more

Overview of criteria and valuation classes

Fuel efficiency

Fuel consumption is dependent upon the rolling resistance of the tyres, the vehicle itself, driving conditions and driving style. The measured rolling resistance (rolling resistance coefficient) of the tyre is categorised in classes A (most efficient) to E (least efficient).

Fitting a vehicle with class A tyres all round can lead to a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 7.5%* in comparison to the same vehicle with class E tyres all round. Commercial vehicles may have even greater reductions.
(Source: Impact analysis of the European Commission
* if measured in accordance with the stated procedures in EU Regulation 2020/7400)

Please note:
Fuel consumption depends to a great extent on the individual driving style and can be reduced considerably by driving in an environmentally friendly manner. To improve fuel efficiency, tyre pressures must be checked regularly.

Wet grip

Wet grip is categorised in classes A (shortest braking distance - E (longest braking distance).

A car fitted with class A tyres can have a braking distance which is 18 m shorter than that of a car fitted with class E tyres when performing an emergency stop at 80 km/h (in average road grip conditions). *
*Source: wdk Wirtschaftsverband der deutschen Kautschukindustrie e.V. (Professional association of the German rubber industry)

Please note:
Road safety is highly dependent upon individual driving style. Stopping distances must always be observed. To improve road grip in wet conditions, tyre pressure must be checked regularly.

External rolling noise

The noise emission of a tyre has an effect upon the total noise of the vehicle and influences not only driving comfort, but also environmental noise pollution. The EU tyre label categorises extrnal rolling noise in the classes from A (quietest rolling noise level) to C (loudest rolling noise level). This is measured in decibels (dB) and compared to the European noise emission limit values for external tyre rolling noise.

A
The pictogram with the classification "A" shows that the external rolling noise of the tyre falls below the 2016 EU limit value by more than 3 dB.
B
Classification "B" means that the external rolling noise of the tyre falls below the 2016 EU limit value by up to 3 dB.
C
Classification "C" means that the specified limit value has been exceeded.

Grip in snow, winter-suitability

Tyres labelled with the 3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake, or "3PMSF" symbol, must display a specified braking or traction characteristic on a solid bed of snow in comparison to a standardised reference comparison tyre (a so-called "SRTT" - standard reference test tyre).

Please note:
For all winter and all-year tyres manufactured from 1/1/2018, the Alpine symbol is mandatory. Tyres labelled as such are tested for their snow characteristics in a standardised and globally recognised test procedure and must fulfil specified minimum requirements. These tyres provide particularly good performance with regard to safety and driving control in winter conditions - snow, icy roads and low temperatures.
