Description
Thanks to iON INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY, The iON evo pushes the limits of trade-offs to reach optimum performance. The iON evo is specifically tailored for electric vehicles, but it is also equipped with the best of both worlds.
Noise Proof Technology:
- Electric motors are almost soundless, which results in the driver hearing more noise from the tyres. With the i Sound Absorber Technology, the iON evo offers a quiet and pleasant ride at all speed ranges.
Minimised Tread Pattern Noise:
- Optimised Multi-Pitch Sequencing through Opti Pitch Technology
- Tyre noise can be drastically reduced by applying Opti Pitch Technology. The iON evo has optimised the number and size of pitches to listen more to what matters.
Even Tread Wear And Enhanced Mileage:
- The battery weight makes electric vehicles up to 30% heavier than ICE vehicles, which frequently causes uneven wear on the tyres. The iON evo is made of ProDurable Compound specifically made for electric vehicles to extend tyre life in a healthier condition. iON evo through Round Even Technology evenly spreads out road pressure by optimising the contact structure and provides the overall lifespan with uniform tread wear.
Extended Tread Life:
- ProDurable Compound
- Composed of advanced fillers and flexible rubber materials, ProDurable Compound provides higher mileage.
Even Tread Wear:
- Round Even Technology
- Tyres equipped on electric vehicles wear out approximately 20% faster with uneven wear than on ICE vehicles. iON evo achieves uniform contact pressure by optimising contact structure through Round Even Technology. The iON evo provides longer usage and less frequent replacement.
Extended Range:
- Hankook understands the concerns of losing energy while driving Electric Vehicles. By reducing the rolling resistance through Opti Cure Technology, the battery lasts longer to drive a longer distance. A few miles can be crucial during an emergency.
Advanced Handling:
- Designed to bear the initial torque power of electric vehicle motors, the iON evo offers excellent handling and grip performance for premium electric vehicles.
Enhanced Wet Grip:
- By achieving grade A in the EU tyre labelling wet grip item for all available sizes, the iON evo provides guaranteed wet performance without missing noise reduction to maximise driving pleasure.
- Wet Performance without missing Noise Reduction
- Expanding Lateral Grooves
- The lateral grooves are designed narrower on the inside to reduce air-pumping noise, and wider on the outside to secure wet performance. This is another double advantage of the iON evo.
- Optimised Groove Size
- To prevent groove resonance while driving, the iON evo has optimised the size of grooves. Expanding the 2 grooves on the inside wider has also improved drainage performance.
Manufacturer information
EU Tyre Label
The Tyre Labelling Regulation determines the information that must be provided with regard to tyres' fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise. Information is also provided on the product's performance in wintery driving conditions.
Regulation EU 1222/2009, which has been in force since 01/11/2012, has been revised and will be replaced from 1 May 2021 by Regulation EU 2020/740, from which point new standards will apply. The assessment categories for fuel efficiency, wet grip and external noise have been changed and the layout of the EU label has been changed accordingly. The manufacturers' product data sheets, stored in the EU database, can be downloaded via a QR code integrated into the label. It also includes information on snow grip and ice grip for tyres that meet these criteria.
The following tyres are exempt from the regulation:
- Tyres designed to be fitted only to vehicles registered for the first time before 1 October 1990
- Remoulded tyres (until Regulation EU 2020/740 has been widened accordingly)
- Professional off-road tyres
- Racing tyres
- Tyres with additional devices to improve traction, e.g. studded tyres
- Temporary-use spare tyres (T-type tyres)
- Tyres with a speed rating below 80 km/h
- Tyres with a nominal rim diameter of 254 mm or less and 635 mm or more
