ET 50 Rims: precisely tailored to the vehicle

ET 50 rims have an offset of 50 millimetres. This value indicates the distance between the geometric centre of the rim and its contact surface on the wheel hub. A relatively high positive offset, such as ET 50, ensures that – for the same rim width – the wheel is positioned comparatively far inwards within the wheel arch.

Offsets are used on numerous modern vehicles, where the wheel arch, chassis and braking system are closely matched. The offset affects not only the appearance but also the lateral position of the wheel and thus the space available in the wheel arch.

Why ET 50 alone is not the deciding factor

When choosing the right rim, it is not enough to simply consider the Offset. Equally important are rim width, rim diameter, bolt circle, centre bore, load index and tyre size. The rim width, in particular, affects how far the wheel actually protrudes inwards and outwards.

The spoke geometry can also be a decisive factor. On vehicles with large brake calipers, there must be sufficient clearance between the Rim and the braking system. Therefore, before purchasing, you should always check the vehicle specifications as well as the ABE, ECE approval or the relevant parts certificate.

Alloy rims with ET 50

In the field of alloy rims, ET 50 is found in many near-standard and vehicle-specific applications. Manufacturers such as Borbet, Ronal, CMS, Dezent, Autec and Alutec offer numerous models with offsets in this range.

The range includes classic five-spoke rims, sporty double-spoke designs and delicate multi-spoke designs. There is also a wide variety of finishes: silver, black, anthracite or high-gloss variants allow for a personalised look.

Steel rims as a functional alternative

Steel rims may also be available with an offset of 50. They are frequently used for winter tyres, spare wheels or functionally oriented vehicle concepts.
