Continental motorcycle tyres

1871 was the founding year of the Continental Caoutchouc und Gutta Percha Compagnie in Hanover. The company name that founding era has since become an integral part of the company’s business, as to this day, plant sap from the rubber and gutta-percha plants are still an important and fundamental part of tyre production. In 1891, Continental brought the first pneumatic bicycle tyres to the market, with the production of motorcycle tyres commencing three years later with the prototype of the series-produced petrol motorcycle by Hildebrand & Wolfmüller.

Today, Continental remains one of the leading manufacturers of motorcycle tyres. Tyres are manufactured for sports bikes, sport tourers, enduros, cruisers, light motorbikes and scooters. Continental supplies original equipment to BMW, Husqvarna and KTM, among others. Research, development, testing, and the production of radial tyres all take place in the Hessian town of Korbach and on Hanover in Lower Saxony.
