Cyclocross tyres: Specialised performance for demanding terrain

Cyclocross tyres have been specially developed for use in the cycling sport of the same name, which involves fast laps on mixed terrain such as mud, grass, gravel and sand. These Tyres are characterised by their special tread design: They offer an excellent compromise between traction and rolling resistance so that you remain in control at all times on changing surfaces. The carcasses are generally narrower than those of mountain bike tyres and, at around 32 to 35 millimetres in Width, offer a good degree of manoeuvrability without sacrificing stability. At the same time, cyclocross tyres are robust enough to be ridden in tough conditions with lower air pressure - for even better grip when cornering or on slippery surfaces.

Cyclocross bikes and tyres were originally developed for competitions, but they are also becoming increasingly popular for sporty everyday use. They are ideal for all those who travel on a wide variety of terrain and want to rely on dependable technology.

Your frequently asked questions:

What is the difference between gravel and cyclocross?

Cyclocross bikes are designed more for short, intensive racing with lots of manoeuvrability and traction, often with steeper geometries and narrower Tyres. Gravel bikes, on the other hand, have a more comfortable design, are intended for longer tours and allow for wider Tyres and more versatile equipment.

Who is a cyclocross bike suitable for?

A cyclocross is suitable for ambitious sporty riders who are travelling off-road and appreciate quick reactions off-road. It is also an excellent option for commuters with unpaved routes or for winter training.

What is the purpose of a cyclocross bike?

The cyclocross bike was designed for racing on varying surfaces, where manoeuvrability, low weight and good traction are crucial. It combines the lightness of a Road bike with the robustness of an off-road bike.

Can you ride a cyclocross bike on the road?

Yes, you can - a cyclocross bike rolls pleasantly smoothly on tarmac roads. However, the slightly higher rolling resistance compared to a classic Road bike is noticeable, especially on long, fast tours.
