Motor oil with viscosity 0W-20
Engine oil with a viscosity of 0W-20 is a specially developed lubricant that offers excellent cold-starting properties and high efficiency at low temperatures. The viscosity of an engine oil indicates how fluid the oil is at different temperatures. The first number, in this case ‘0W’, stands for the fluidity of the oil at cold temperatures (‘W’ stands for ‘winter’). A lower number means that the oil is thinner, which enables easier cold starts and lubricates the engine more quickly, which reduces wear. The second number, ‘20’, indicates the viscosity of the oil at operating temperature. A lower value such as 20 indicates that the oil remains relatively thin even at high temperatures, which makes the engine more efficient and reduces fuel consumption.
Engine oil with a viscosity of 0W-20 is often used in modern, fuel-efficient engines designed to operate at lower frictional resistance. It is particularly suitable for vehicles operating in colder climates where a fast and effective cold start is important. Manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda and Mazda often recommend 0W-20 for many of their current models as it improves efficiency and protects the engine. This oil also offers benefits in terms of emissions as it reduces fuel consumption and therefore minimises environmental impact.
