ET 60 rims: large Offset and compact wheel stance

ET 60 rims have an offset of 60 millimetres. This value indicates how far the contact surface on the wheel hub is offset from the geometric centre of the rim. A high positive offset such as ET 60 means that, with all other rim dimensions being equal, the wheel is positioned relatively far towards the centre of the vehicle.

Offsets are found in particular on certain Passenger cars, SUVs, Vans or other vehicles whose axle and wheel arch design is specifically tailored to them. ET 60 is not a universal size: even a deviation of just a few millimetres can be significant where space is limited.

Take care to observe clearances to brakes and suspension

With a rim positioned far inwards, the available clearance on the inside takes on particular importance. There must be sufficient clearance between the wheel and the strut, control arms, brake caliper or other components under all driving conditions.

Furthermore, the rim width significantly influences the actual position of the rim edges. This is why two ET 60 rims can have completely different installation dimensions despite having the same Offset. Other decisive factors for selection include Diameter, Bolt circle, hub bore, load capacity and tyre size. Permissible use is determined by the vehicle documentation and the approvals for the respective rim.

Alloy rims with ET 60 for individual requirements

In the field of alloy rims, deep offsets are frequently used on rims specifically tailored to certain vehicle model ranges. Manufacturers such as Ronal, Borbet, Dezent, Autec, CMS or Alutec stock rims in numerous ET variations.

Alloy wheels offer a wide range of styling options. Depending on the model, for example, classic spoke designs, modern Y-spoke designs or sporty multi-spoke designs are available, as well as finishes in black, silver or anthracite.

Steel rims with ET 60

Steel rims may also be available in ET 60, particularly for vehicle-specific applications. Suppliers such as ALCAR, MW and Accuride cover various passenger car and commercial vehicle segments with their steel wheel ranges.

With steel wheels, the main focus is on load-bearing capacity, suitability for everyday use and cost-effectiveness. They are therefore often suitable as winter or spare wheels, whilst aluminium rims are more geared towards Design and enhancing the vehicle’s individual appearance.
